About Us

Ruby City is located in “uptown” Franklin, N.C., just north of the Georgia border on Hwy 441, and South-West of Asheville, just beyond Sylva and Dillsboro.  For those of you visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains or Great Smoky Mountains for the first time, we are quite literally at the gateway to both great attractions. Franklin is fortunate to have many draws for tourists due to its’ location. Gem mining has been a long-time favorite, and probably one of our most popular attractions.  The town has extra notability due to the popular “Cash and Treasures” show that airs on TLC weekly.  Ruby City is honored to be one of two businesses featured
When you come through our doors, you are faced with many options of things to buy, sections to see, and questions that will probably need answered by our knowledgeable staff.
To the right, you will find an expansive jewelry case the holds everything from gold to silver, amethyst to diamonds, rings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, and much more.  We have literally thousands of cut gemstones for the setting of your choice, finished jewelry for those of you that just can’t wait, diamonds for those of you that like to be spoiled, designer lines, hard-to-find stones... and every bit of it backed by 3rd generation family jewelers with a wide range of services at very reasonable rates.
There are two full rooms dedicated to a variety of “tastes” for the home or office, and for every age group.  Onyx vases and accessories, fossils several millions of years old, soapstone carvings, designer blown glass from San Francisco.  Besides decor, we carry a full line of lapidary and mining equipment - Graves and Lortone authorized dealers.  If you need rough rock to tumble, we’ve got that covered.  We also carry the tumblers to do the job, and tumbled stones for those of you that just can’t wait.
